Death Café Tulsa

Curious? Concerned? Maybe just hungry?

This month’s Death Cafe will be held on Friday, September 30 from 7:30 - 9:00pm at Panera Bread on 71st and Garnett.

It is not counseling. It is not a support group.  It is just talking.

In 2011 in England, Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid formed the first Death Café, a place for people to come together and talk about heavy topics over light refreshments. Death Café came to America in 2012 and now more than 900 events are hosted in 19 countries around the world.

Death Café Tulsa is held on the last Friday of every month at 7:30 pm. Every event is free and open to the public. To find out our special pop-up location, follow us on Facebook or call 918-587-1200.

Every meeting begins with refreshments, cake, and a question: “Why are you here?” Then the conversation is allowed to take on a life of its own – each event unscripted. Conversations have flowed from end-of-life planning to the supernatural to trying to figure out how to live a life that matters now in the time we have.

Death is 100% inevitable, yet rarely talked about. Death Café gives people an outlet to express their thoughts and feelings, their hopes and fears, without judgement.

The Death Café concept is truly unique. This is not a counseling program, it is just a place for people to connect, eat cake and share thoughts on life, death, and everything in between.

Who knows?  Maybe by talking more openly about death, we can realize a better life.

Join us for cake and conversation at this month’s Death Café. Let us know you’re coming! www.DeathCafe.com
